1. Aleksander Doba
When Doba was 34 years old he joined an expedition canoeing down the Drawa River in Poland. Soon he was hooked and began kayaking. He dreamed of paddling across the Atlantic Ocean. Doba designed and constructed a unique 1,100-pound kayak with a friend and used it to complete the 7,716-mile trek three times. The last time he completed the voyage was in May 2016 when he was 68 years old.
2. Antoni Huczyński
Huczyński is known as an all-around sportsman in his hometown. This 94-year-old man eats healthy and regularly engages in calisthenics, gymnastics, and cycling. He has even tried indoor skydiving. Huczyński is known for his fitness and vitality which spurred him to write a book about his healthy habits titled Dziarski Dziadek, which means “spry grandfather” in Polish.
3. Charles Eugster
In 2015, at the age of 95, Eugster broke the indoor record for the 200-meter dash. In 2016, he broke the record for the 60-meter race by finishing in 15.44 seconds. In 2017, he competed again, but was unable to beat his previous record. In March 2017, Eugster participated in the World Masters Athletics Championships Indoor in Daegu, South Korea.
4. Dion Friedland
A bodybuilder as a young teen, Friedland gave up the hobby for college, career, and family. During his adult years, he played golf and tennis. However, after experiencing hip problems at the age of 65, he returned to bodybuilding. At 71, he won a bronze medal in the World Championships. He gained another award from the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness for being the oldest bodybuilding competitor.
5. Jacque Fresco
Even though he never finished high school, Fresco continued his education on his own. He was interested in engineering design and economics and worked as a fabrication designer for Alcoa and the Major Realty Corporation. After retirement, Fresco established his own industrial design company and began writing and giving lectures. In July 2016, he received the NOVUS Summit Award for city design and community. Now 101 years old, he continues to work to this day.
6. Paul F. Fegan
While attending law school, Fegan worked as a clown, a dance instructor, and a juggler. After passing the bar, he enjoyed a profitable business and law career, which spanned 44 years. However, determined to reinvent himself, Fegan became a full-time professional magician. At 80, he calls himself “The Fantastic Fig” and performs for audiences in California.
7. Valentin Badich
At age 40, Badich began experiencing problems with his joints. After physicians offered artificial implants as a solution, Badich started exploring other types of treatments, eventually changing his diet and adopting an exercise regimen. While in his 70s, he discovered a love of dancing. These days the 79-year-old grandfather loves going to nightclubs and out dancing clubbers much younger than him.
